ABC Talkback Radio Gippsland with Celine Foenander 8:30 am today,problems with" Working with Children Checks"s

  No it didn`t have anything to do with Steven Unthank,just general problems people had with the system.

  However I saw it as an opportunity to" Advertise Advertise Advertise "Steven Unthanks case,Though I didn`t get on the air,I spoke to the receptionist and gave her a breif as to what the case was all about.They ran out of time I left it to late to ring in.They did seem interested though.

  I have since sent an e-mail to the station if anyone is interested I could post what I wrote Later I`m short of time right now.

  Also in the Herald Sun this morning their was a letter to the editor on the same subject,so I took the opportunity to write them also with a slightly different slant on the subject.I could also post that if anyone is interested. As I said I have to go out now

  While I was out someone from the Herald Sun rang my home and my wife asked them to ring after 3pm

  This is what I wrote in my e-mail to the ABC word for word

  All organizations church groups....etc have complied with the "Working with Children Checks" except the various organizations under the umberella of Jehovah`s Witnesses who for the past 3 years have thumbed their nose at the act and have refused to comply.They are now facing criminal charges in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates court brought about, not by the authourities, who should be doing it,but by a private individual.It should be taken over by the Dept.of public Prosecutions.As one of your listeners said,who has a carpet cleaning business they had to get one,because children may be in the house alone,then all adult Jehovah`s Witnesses should likewise have to get one because of their door to door ministry where they can come in contact with children when their parents are not at home.Or is this law a paper tiger applying to some but not others.

  I wanted to keep it breif and to the point,at least their aware of it now.I would hope their investigative journalists would follow it up.
