URNOOL: Pedda Laxmaiah (60) of Somayajulapalli village in Orvakallu mandal, who was reportedly murdered, according to his close relatives, including wife, returned home after two months.Laxmaiah’s relatives had even performed all the final rites and his wife had started wearing the clothes of a widow. The police went a step ahead and arrested three persons for killing Laxmaiah on the complaint lodged by his relatives.
The three alleged killers — Talari Nagaseshudu, Boya Venkateswarlu and Boya Naganna — were in police custody for 10 days and later in Nandikotkuru sub jail for one-and-half months under judicial custody.
Laxmaiah, according to the police, had allegedly misbehaved with Sunkulamma, wife of Boya
Venkateswarlu, on December 13, when she took shelter at his place. She warned him that she would inform the matter to her relatives and get him punished. Apprehending an attack from her relatives, Laxmaiah left the village the next day as Sunkulamma’s husband and others inquired about his whereabouts. Incidentally, the police found an unidentified dead body near Alaganuru reservoir in Miduthuru mandal. The family performed the funeral rights on the body handed over by the police. However, the incident took a curious turn when a villager found Laxmaiah in another village and brought the matter to the notice of the three accused.
Laxmaiah was produced before the court on Tuesday and district judge M Sivaratna immediately ordered the police to release the three. Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered a CID inquiry over the episode.
