The brothers turned the clock off at NY HQ to save money.The people phoned WT HQ to tell them that their clock stopped.The brothers informed the people that the clock was turned off to save power and money.
When the mayor of NY got wind of this,he phoned WT HQ and told them that he would pay for the cost to have the clock turned back.So the brothers turned the clock back on.
I gotta imagine that the only true part is that Watchtower is such a greedy parasite on NYC that they even hate "giving" them the correct time.
Probably just myth that did the rounds via email
The clock was stuck on 1914. Of COURSE they had to turn it off!
Everyone who knows complicated Biblical Chronology (like me) knows that the Genital Times ended when Elvis died, or maybe when Jim Morrison died, or Jimmy Hendrix, maybe Janis Joplin, or sorta something like that....

THe last time I was in a car close enough to see the clock was in April, but honestly didn't even turn my head in that direction, plus the fact it was daytime so I don't know, but someone floated that story around here a while ago I remember. Anyone here ride the B or D train across the manhattan bridge at night or drive across the Bklyn Bridge that would know if it's still on?
