Just wondering whether any ex-JWs are also fellow Hash House Harriers? The "drinking club with a running problem"?
It's nothing to do with hash as in hashish, btw.
It's a running club. A "hare" lays a trail with dollops of flour and "hounds" (harriers) try to follow the trail to the end. Usually with beer and/or shots along the way and a party at the end where various traditions and goofy stuff that happened during the run are celebrated by drinking more beer.
I know they are here in my area, but I have not been a runner due to a weight problem, but I am working on that so maybe I will check them out.
If you've seen the group I know, you'd know you don't have to be a runner. Several people aren't in the greatest of shape. Some walk. Some just hitch a ride to the beer stop and the end. Check them out if you have a chance. I did and loved them. I do come from a beer drinking town but am a transplant to the south. These people remind me of home.
They're worldwide as well.
And if you have a weight problem, maybe a few walks with them will start to eliminate the problem, slowly but surely.
