Maybe this one should have gone to Simon!

    Dear Tech Support:
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed that
the new program began making unexpected changes to the accounting
modules, limiting access to flower and jewelry applications that had
operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0
uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9 but
installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes
the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but
to no avail. --Desperate Dear Desperate:
Keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband
1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the command: "C:/ I THOUGHT
YOU LOVED ME" and install Tears 6.2. Husband 1.0 should then
automatically run the applications: Guilty 3.0 and Flowers 7.0. But
remember overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to GrumpySilence 2.5,
HappyHour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will
create "Snoring Loudly" wave files. DO NOT install MotherInLaw 1.0 or
reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported
applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a
great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new
applications quickly. Consider buying additional software to improve
performance. I personally recommend HotFood 3.0 and Lingerie 5.3. Tech Support

Frenchy, That was great! Pool Boy 6.0 is a great package with many of the features you thought were included with Husband 1.0.

I think the real cause of these problems is that there must be a copy of Wife running somewhere which, if left unchecked, will take up all the system resources and can frequently cause instability and crashes (particularly noticeable with Driving Simulators).
It is normally loaded at system startup and has access to all other applications, many of which it can take direct control of as well.
It does have issues if you try to run any copy of Girlfriend, Mistress or NiceWomanAtWork with it unless they are set to run in their own protected memory space and hidden from view but this is very tricky to manage effectively and best left to professionals.
Also, most versions of Wife have a default setting which means it will attempt to dial the host Mother-In-Law site at least once a day for updates and notifications - this can affect Internet dialup software especially as the modem will report 'No Dial Tone'.
    My advice?
Keep Wife installed - it is a good package and well worth investing in a few upgrades for. There are several expansion packs now available such as CookBook and NightGames which really improve performance, and are well worth splashing out on. Don't bother with any of the cheaper alternatives such as Mistress because you will be on a constant upgrade path and it works out very expensive.
I'm not going to uninstall my favourite app. though - Beer is best !
I've a feeling this will end up a long, long thread...

I've been running the Bachelor (currently ver. 9.0) O/S. I'm pretty happy with it. It's fast, doesn't take up much room on my hard drive and is pretty flexible. I've had Girlfriend loaded for quite some time (including the expansion pack). Great program! I decided to try Wife 1.0. The read me text recommended that I change my O/S to Husband 2.0 and add more memory (maybe even a larger HD). I decided to chance it with Bachelor and my existing system. Wife loaded and ran fine for a while then crashed my system. I reloaded everything (except Girlfriend this time) and Wife crashed it again.
I gave up on Wife (after exhausting all of tech supports suggestions), reloaded Bachelor 9.0, Reading 7.5, Home Remodel 2.0 and Favourite Movies 5.0. System ran fine. I still had HD space so I decided to reload my old Girlfriend program. It crashed my system! I've downloaded all the patches but my copy of Girlfriend seems to be bugged. Has anyone ever heard of Wife infecting Bachelor with a virus making it unable to run Girlfriend? Should I just try to find another copy of Girlfriend? Do I have to abandon Bachelor and learn the Husband O/S? Any suggestions?

Hey, some of them seem to be 'expanding' on their own!

Who said that? Who's using my posting privileges? Hey girls, it wasn't me!
