I was watching "The Nostradamus Effect" episode - "doomsday hieroglyphs" the other day. I was shocked when they began speaking about (no names mentioned) of those who believed that measurements of the giza pyramid to predict the end of the world. They showed charts and how that scenario hit 1914 to a certain part, then the entire measurements end at september of 2011.

Anyway for anybody wanting to understand the pyramid measurements russel used to backup the 1914 date and that all witnesses believed in his time, check out that episode. They don't mention the jw's or russell but the entire logic and thinking of that 1914 w/ the pyramids is fully explained there.

Russell was late in the game of Pyramidology, others had outlined the idea long before he picked it up.

He was most impressed by that old fraud Piazzi-Smythe, who styled himself Astronomer Royal for Scotland, when there was no such position.

Chazzer wrote to Prof P-S and received a letter back which Russell proudly published in Studies in the Scriptures (the vol. about the pyramid), if you read it Piazzi-Smythe is actually very non-commital.

I kinda think it is no worse a theory than the latest overlapping generation tosh.

Interesting. Its a fact that Russell did not invent the whole pyramid thing he just promoted his own version of it.

I remember being in an modern art gallery many years ago and one exhibit was an open book that had a section of pages cut out with something or other in the hole - can't remember the details. The book was 19th century and pre-dated Russell. It was all about the measurements of the great pyramid and its prophetic significance. I was amazed to see it. I wish I could remember the title and author, perhaps it was mentioned in the documentary?

If Russell hadn't died, then the 'new light' eventually would have been that 1914 was the beginning of the trib, and the measurements cease at 9/2001, so armagedon would have been predicted to that date. THEN come 911, everyone would have thought it was beginning, fast forward to now, the new light would be that 911 was actually the beginning of the great tribulation or events which will lead to it. I think that's where JW's would stand today if the pyramidology wasn't dropped.

Wasn't it ultra fashionable to have anything Egyptian during the same period as when King Tut's tomb was excavated. Reading the anthropology accounts, I was always struck that these oh so noble Europeans were excavating sites that the indigienous people never excavated. I know the Museum of Natural History in NY and the British Museum just sort of raided Egypt. They had no right to most of what they stole.

Does anyone know if the pyramid people came up with the same figures as Russell. I know the Bible Students respect him. Altho I respect the Bible Students b/c they appear nicer and more reasoned than most JWs, Russell sounds like a nut job.

I was read about excavations and the early modern European contacts with the DRuze and other Middle Eastern peoples. Most of them were rank amateurs. The actual analytic work was frequently done by racist museum people back in a major city. What surprised me, though, was that amateur was sufficient for many of the projects. I don't think amateurs would be invited to go explore today.

I am also curious whether pyramid studies were conducted by the Crusaders and Middle Ages people exposed to Egypt. Did the monasteries do the same calculations?

All Egyptian understanding and beliefs mixing with christianity is generally hidden and unspoken, contained within the Vatican and mason like societies.

Catholic christianity is the closest to the Egyptian for a public religion. Mason is much more hard because up the the 33rd degree there is little if none religious teachings and talk, it's possibly in the branches one may take after 33rd degree such as Knights Templar.

In Christian paintings in the Vatican, you can see the "all seeing eye", mason compass, the pyramid w/ the all seeing eye, etc.

I know one of the teachings to mix them, is that the pyramid represents the temple or body of Christ, and the eye as him, being the head of the congregation. Another is that the bottom of the pyramid represents all forms of religions and beliefs and all paths lead to the creator. (not saying any of that is true, but that is what those involved with Christian beliefs or concerns would be told is the meaning of them).

Cal it what you want, it's all part of the occult.

Anyone considering joining the religion of the Jehovah's Witnesses, or current members of this group, are generally unfamiliar with its early history, the beliefs and practices of its founder Charles Taze Russell and to a lesser extent Joseph F. Rutherford. The Watchtower Society goes to great lengths to distance itself from Russell and his teachings as they are now considered anathema, and bizarre. The foundational tenets of the faith are so different from today's religion that the Russell-era organization is virtually unrecognizable.

Much of the old doctrine has been thrown out and would be condemned as seeped in the occult and clearly pagan today, and for good reason, because such conduct and beliefs are unscriptural and prohibited. Harsh words, no doubt, but facts speak for themselves and explain to a great extent some of today's questionable doctrine and practices. Try as the Jehovah's Witnesses do, there is no escaping their occult pagan past. Potential converts are forewarned and are advised to study these issues carefully. Below are numerous websites devoted to exposing the Jehovah's Witnesses' deep connection with the occult and its pagan origins.

This documented historical connection with the occult is evident in several ways. Russell relied heavily on astrological predictions and signs of the zodiac. Rutherford believed that Jehovah most likely resided in the Pleiades constellation. Many of Rutherford and Russell's false predictions were calculated based on alignment and measurement of ancient Egyptian pyramids relying in essence on the powers of the occult. A small pyramid was erected next to Russell's grave as a memorial to his life and work. The satanic All-Seeing Eye of occult worship adorns Russell's memorial pyramid, and early Watchtower publications incorporate Masonic symbolism to a great degree. Furthermore, the Divine Plan of the Ages, an early Watchtower book, is adorned with the Winged Sun Disc, an Egyptian religious symbol of pagan origins and false worship.

The Jehovahs Witnesses can run from their occult past, but they can't hide. Nor can they sweep these truths under the rug of their New Light Doctrine. Due to such an un-biblical foundation that continued well into the 1920s, it is inconceivable that Jesus Christ chose the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society as their sole representatives on earth due to the purity of their faith.
