How upset would the jws be if they found out nobody was going to stay dead, and everyone would receive some sort of eternal life?

It would probably be similar to the die-hard JDubs that have trudged along for decades only to find out that someone who comes IN right at the wire gets the same number of days of Everlasting Life in Paradise as they do.

You don't think that pisses them off?

Then look at it this way: It would probably like the die-hard JDub Elder that has trudged along for decades, taken all the shitty Ser Mtg assignments/demos, never stayed home from FS because of the snow, given green handshakes to every CO/DO that walked thru the door, handled every cleaning or parking attendant assignment all in the hopes that he will someday be given a Cir Assm or Dist Conv speaking assignment -- BUT. . . . finds out that the recently converted, college educated, blonde haired-blue eyed, new wonder boy in the circuit/congo, who JUST got appointed as Elder, is the guy who actually got the Assm/Conv assignment.

The old boy is just elated for him. NOT.

I would assume that this parable is not one of the more popular ones:

    Matthew 20:1-16

    New International Version (NIV)

    Matthew 20
The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard

1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.

3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.

“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’

7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.

“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’

8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’

9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

I am sure they would find a way to deny it. Whether it be that there is no resurrection of any kind, that everyone gets reincarnated (whether on this earth or in another universe cycle matters not), or they are brought back to heaven (or on another planet after being recreated by science), the witlesses are going to find some rubbish with which to shoot down any argument that goes against their crap doctrines. That is to scare witlesses into staying witlesses and to do all they can at great personal hardship to spread the cancer.

When I was an active JW, I believed that a God of love would not destroy anyone permanently who did not deserve such destruction.

I had no problem with the idea that some would come in at the last second and be saved, or that the most unusual people, from our perspective, Adolph Hitler say, would be brought back to life in the New System because their mental illness was adjudged by God to have accounted for their actions.

Far from being "upset" , I would have been gratified that a God of Justice had acted in a righteous maner. I believe there are many active JW's today who feel the same.

What is really upsetting to them, as it was to me, is to find out the whole thing, New System, God of Justice etc, is a sham and a pipe-dream.
