    From e-Watchman's website:

Eishenhower's upbringing associated with the International Bible Students (later Jehovah's Witnesses)

was considered a huge political liability given their anit-war, non-patriotic stance.

Eisenhower family - 1902 Although some reliable sources claim that

Ike was very involved in the faith (Mrs. Ida Eishenhower was an anointed

Christian. The family had regular congregation meetings in their Witchta, Kansas,

home and frequently entertained traveling representatives of the Watchtower Society)

he later disavowed any connection to the Watchtower, claiming to have been baptiszed into

some sect called the River Bretheren.

The fact that International Bible Students can be abbreviated IBS really says a lot.

I read somewhere that the family was embarassed by Mrs Eisenhower's standing on corners with the magazines. It would be interesting to see if he referenced his mother in any way in his writings and what ever happened to everyone in that family. Any JWs left?

His mother was a River Brethren Mennonite when he was born.

She joined the IBS, not Jehovah's Witnesses. They didn't exist yet.

Ike never joined, so if he did get baptised by the River Brethren, he was joining the church of his birth. The apostate was his mother, not him.

It's interesting to note that the River Brethren, as a Mennonite offshoot, also oppose war.
