Jesus knew where absolute truth could be found.
That is why he said in prayer to his Father the words of
our year text for 2012: “Your word is truth.” (John 17:
    17) God’s written Word, the Bible, contains unchanging
    truth that emanates from Jehovah,
    the Source of all wisdom
and knowledge. (Prov. 2:6) In fact, the Bible calls
Jehovah “the God of truth.” (Ps. 31:5) And since he is
eternal, so is his truth. It is always there to guide us in
    the path of righteousness and life. (Ps. 16:11; Prov. 12:28;
2 Tim. 3:15-17) The truth is not a matter of personal
    opinion.

Pretty ironic coming from a religion that constantly changes is doctrines in a radical manner, and who decides truth by a 2/3rds majority vote!

    Oh, boy...

And on the opening page also:

"In fact, those who truly make the Bible their guide are

    a minority—only about 0.1 percent of the earth’s

    population."

    What a self righteous Richards!

YB-That one caught my eye as well, the GB just loves to insult the hundreds of millions around the world who also study and use the bible as part of their lives.

But a die hard witness would argue...

"it is true the word of Jehovah is unchanging. But we as Jehovah's Witnesses have to keep in step with god's organization or we will be left behind." "In other words, although Jehovah's word doesn't change, our present understanding of his word does change from time to time." "We should thank Jehovah everyday for for the faithful and discreet slave who continues to supply us with spiritual food at the proper time."

I seem to be hearing this shit more and more from the platform ever since the recent generation change.

Only 0.1% make the Bible their guide in life? This is utter rubbish--any organization that insists on its members abiding by and teaching bad doctrines from itself, despite being able to prove them wrong using their own Bible, until the organization itself fixes them is not truly using the Bible as guidance. And this makes no allowance for that the Bible itself is rubbish in guiding a person's life--just that the 0.1% don't even use the Bible itself for guidance.

How do they explain the lack of the "name" Jehovah or the lack of the tetragramaton in the NT ?

"In other words, although Jehovah's word doesn't change, our present understanding of his word does change from time to time."

Iamwhoiam is right to say that this is exactly what they will say. But...

    1) If the present understanding of truth is the best guess of men, based on their studies, then what right do they have to insist that all members adhere to it, as though it were God's word itself?

    2) If present understanding of truth has indeed been progressively revealed by God's Holy Spirit, then any adjustment would only be additional information at the time it is required, and never contradict what had been revealed previously. To do so would mean that the Holy Spirit had revealed an untruth!

As the Apostle might have said "Never may that happen!"

I agree 100% blues...but a diehard won't see that simple reasoning. After many years of serving the org...they do not want to admit to themselves that they could be wrong, too many years invested. High controlled indoctrination retards the thinking process to where it seems evil or scary...so its just easier to stay in.
