Dang don't even know if I should post this - Ok - feel free to delete this mods if this crosses the line and apologies to all as I hope my post history will exonerate me from spamming. eek here goes.

No desire to promote any software or sell anything BUT if you are looking for a DVD ripping software I had an interesting experience on one unnamed site. I was about to buy and got really annoyed that they quoted a GBP rate but when I went to pay it showed only dollars / Euros so I cancelled. Next thing I know the site asks why I didn't buy and asked if I wanted an extra discount. Ends up I got the software 10 quid cheaper. Never seen a site do this before.

So - I will not name any site but try this if you are buying any software.. don't PM me I won't tell you where the site is either. Hope that's covered my butt.

The free stuff wouldn't rip a lot of my uk DVDs :( I lose so many disks to jammy fingers and frisbee wars between the kids I've decided to back them all up !

LOL Try these: DVD Decrypter, RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink & DVD Fab. I usually use DVD Decrypter, but DVDFab will rip Blue-ray disks I think.

Of course, these are only to be used for strictly legal purposes...

edit: If you play a copy of a DVD on your PC, it may invalidate your decoder, so it's wise to only play them in a DVD player.

Never heard of cracks, patches, keygens, nfo, SKIDROW or any such stuff. DVDshrink was good warez tho; had probs with some DVDs. mp2 was pretty straight up; now mp4/mkv/movJavi and codec/streaming format flavours all across the board. Whole new ballgame.

I can recommend a program called Handbrake. It's available for Windows, Linux and Mac, but you need to find a version BEFORE 0.9.2 for full decryption as the LIBDVDCSS libraries were removed from then onwards. I haven't tried it myself, but if you can't find an older version then installing VLC media player may restore functions as it includes LIBDVDCSS.

Edited to add, this should only be used for legit backing-up purposes of course...
