  My local news paper, an article about A city near me.

  Residents oppose home for disabled. "We don,t think

  that,s conducive for the neighborhood, not consistent

  with the character of our neighborhood." Over 800

  residents have sighed a petition opposing A proposed

  group home for FOUR developmentally disabled adults.

  I felt ill after reading that article. I hope they print my

  opinion, we will see tomorrow.

  But I was thinking, if I was still A JW, no way in hell would

  I have thought of responding to that article. Most JW have

  no idea what is going on in their community. In fact, most

  do not care, and probably many do not read the news paper.

  JW's would love the idea. Four captive people at one door where they can promise them that their disabilities will be completely wiped away. One knock, 4 return visits.

  That's sickening. It's not like they're building a halfway house for newly released convicts...these people are disabled, not dangerous! I'd be pissed if that were my community and you bet I'd make a stink about it.

  jam, I agree that the freedom to voice your opinion, outrage, support, or otherwise is taken for granted by most people in the world who have not had that stifled to the degree we did as JW's. I really value the freedom I have to express myself.
