DesirousOfChange made a point that I feel needs more exposure

Brother Macmillan got right back on stage and gave another address saying they had been mistaken and needed to wait on Jehovah.

Someone at HQ actually admitted they had made a mistake.

Regarding 1975, it was the over-anxious R&F publishers who made the mistake of assuming more than was written. NO mistakes at HQ!

It's simply WTS covering all angles by talking out of both cheeks of their (YOU CHOOSE THE BODY ORIFICE).

"We are spirit-directed and not inspired, so we make mistakes. We admit our mistakes, unlike Christendom."

"Only we have the truth, and when it's wrong, only we admit it."

Inspired has been defined as " aroused, animated, or imbued with the spirit to do something, byorasifbysupernaturalordivineinfluence".

Directed has been defines as "control the operations of; manage or govern".

Notice the difference? Here's a hint: there is none.

But never in writing and without inuendo. That is why I thought the reference to Macmillan was interesting.

I have a friend whose Cong was Host Cong for the CA recently. DO gave special talk about new lite on "generation" and said something about the generation of 1914 seeing "the end of the system" (the millions now living will never die) -- so. . . . where are they? "DEAD" Thus we had to realize that we were in error about the current understanding and had to look for a better understanding of the generation that Jesus referred to there. My friend who is well up in age, was floored! Basically, it's like he said we just woke up and realized that everyone is dead, so something must be wrong........DUH!

Usually the material the DO uses at Host Congs is the same from his talks at the Assembly. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything like this at a recent Circuit Assm?

Yes, that is exactly what they are doing. It's their way of covering all bases. The 1914 generation teaching was long-term, but the term ran out. 1975 was fairly short-term to pay for WTS expansion of presses and multiply their members due to the panic. Now that years have passed and the doctrine has changed a few times, they look back at the 1914 generation and say "We were wrong. We must have been wrong because they are all dead."

This allows their members to accept their "other" teaching that only Watchtower admits it's mistakes and corrects it's path. "We are better than all other belief systems because we say when we are wrong." (Try to forget that it's decades afterward, or that we have blamed the members for misunderstanding us in the past.) "Christendom is all wrong and will never admit any of it, but we are almost never wrong and will always admit it."

still haven't read an article where the "governing body" admits any such thing. Start out with co's and do's who can be hung out to dry as rogues if necessary.

Sure does seem to me that the Holy Spirit is directing the GB to all the wrong place with all the wrong thinking.

DesirousOf Change, Why do you say that?

Past experience. I don't ever recall the DO do anything in his comments at the Host Cong other than wet the appetite with what you're gonna hear at the CA, unless he has prepared an old Service Talk, but then usually still brings up the same material as at the CA.

Your elders and MS work up lots more fresh material on a week to week or month to month basis than a CO or DO.
