    Hello x

I have stopped researching the bible, having come to the conclusion it is all ball-bags, but something that still doesnt seem to make sense to the JW story and interests me, is Jewish Mythology.

The idea that the Jews arrived "hello world" and then were eventually given commandments to follow and that they were then a bit naughty at times, until the man in the sky's test tube bay son came down and parted ways with the falafel people.. doesnt explain their belief system.

The Jews have heaps of beliefs and laws that have no connection to the bible or God. For example the story of Lilleth.

Does anyone know much about the Lilleth story, where it originated?

Any other interesting Jewish myths and beliefs that are interesting?

    Snare.

P.s. not celebrating birthdays is a follow on of an ancient jewish tradition

I had something on it quite a few years ago. In short, it is a late legend (developing mainly in the medieval period, starting with the satirical Alphabet of Ben Sira from the ninth or tenth century AD and developed further in Kabbalistic mysticism), but draws on several much earlier but independent traditions. The concept of Lilith as a preying she-demon draws on the lilitu of Babylonian mythology, attested in post-exilic Jewish sources like the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Mishnah. This demon however lacks a narrative personifying her as a mate of Adam. That theme draws on a seperate harmonistic interpretation of Genesis 1-2 that takes the woman in ch. 1 to be a separate character from the woman (Eve) in ch. 2. These two separate elements were brought together in the legend of Lilith.

Here is the wiki which is loaded with info:

Thanks, but we have heard all about the Illuminati years before you got here, 2012.

BTW - it is completely off topic on a thread about Jewish Mythology.
