They watch the arabs like hawks, constantly analzying the US and UK for signs of armargeddon but what about the counrty that everyone else worrys about? Nothing. Its not mentioned in the mags or at the conventions, you don't hear about "experiances"tm in that country.

Before i left i wasn't hardly aware that it exisisted not to mention what a terrible place it was.

    Theorys please?

Not surprising since they have no membership involvement there or if they do its done with great secrecy,

for if they were to be found out the consequences would be severe.

Its not unusual for people there to be shot for not supporting the emperor.

Them not mentioning countries where there is no preaching work, goes against their propaganda of

all the inhabitants of the earth being preached to before the end will come.........the other reason

If anyone could figure out how to get JWs into that country and not they be immediately arrested, they probably would have experiences mentioned.

Jehovah evidently hates North Koreans, as he can't be bothered to send any missionaries there to sell magazines with life-giving articles on sailboat races and "the amazing peppercorn! - did it arise by chance or was it created?"

A delegation of Jehovah's Witnesses came here once and we barbecued them over an open fire.

We took all their magazines and books to fuel the fires then roast them to perfection. ..... ummm they were tasty

We wish more JWs would come here again but we haven't seen them for awhile.

I hear there's another Aux. pioneer push coming this spring, maybe then.

The regime is so oppressive I wonder if even a handful of Witnesses exist. I believe Albania has the same situation. It was interesting b/c I went to a lecture in law school by Amnesty International workers when they won the Nobel Peace Prize. Moot court was taking place so there was a small turn out of mostly faculty. It was an intimate gathering. They revealed they know almost everything that happens in Russian and China under Soviet type governments. North Korea and Albania were completely closed. It usually helps political prisoners to live in a city. Nothing helped those in No. Korea and Albania. Also, the Soviet Union and China could be pressured. Any letters to No. Korea and Albania would only make it worse for the prisoners.

They can't announce publicly if there were Witnesses. Perhaps knocking on doors is suspended. Maoist China had a Roman Catholic structure hidden in the country. To be fair, has anyone not watched the videos of No. Koreas in abject misery b.c of the death of their leader not seen some comparison with how happy Witnesses say they are. No. Korea's fervor was helped by a prison sentence of ten years for not wailing and prostrating oneself on the ground.

It seems the WT does not have a universal policy towards repression. If there are any interested people, I hope they know how to hide it very well.

North Korea is the only remaining Stalinist country in the world and only allows a couple thousand Western visitors in a year. Should you be lucky enough to get a visa, you have to pay thousands of dollars for two government guides and submit to a rigorous schedule of propaganda sightseeing tours. There's really not a whole lot to see and it's not worth the sacrifice. If you want Korea and the culture, go to the south. JWs don't mention it because it's impossible for them to maintain a presence there, and telling the story of a country with no Witnesses doesn't quite fit in with their glowing tales of worldwide growth.

Where a country is so repressive in the WTS view, they apply the "community responsibility" rule to it.

*** w95 11/15 p. 16 par. 5 Stay in the “City of Refuge” and Live! ***Even if we have not done such things, though, we share community responsibility for the loss of human life because we did not know God’s law and will. We are like the unintentional manslayer ‘who killed his fellowman without knowing it and who did not hate him formerly.’ (Deuteronomy 19:4)
