. . .to know that my "worldly" father will die of old age, rather than be destroyed forever at Armageddon.

Now that you have escaped the twisted JW worldview, what do you find comforting?

I find it comforting to know that I now have the ability to reason and think. I find it comforting that I have made real friends that won't abandon me based on my thoughts on invisible people.

I think it's comforting that 'this system' isn't really all doom and gloom. WT spends so much time talking about the world getting worse and worse, but this is just not true. There ARE decent people outside the organization. We CAN make the world a better place for ourselves and our kids. And of course we have chance now for self-improvement instead of just waiting on the 'new world' to make those changes for us.

Realizing you only have one life to live is a real motivator, I find.

    I agree.

I am massively optimistic for human potential. That is probably the biggest change in my thinking since leaving the borg.

I find it comforting that I can worship God the way I want, and that I can worship Jesus now if I want, too. I can go where I want to worship, sing the songs I want (not those boring plinky plink kingdumb maladies but nice normal Christian music that sounds like regular music) and I can do certain things that were forbidden to JWs but not forbidden to regular, real Christians, even things as simple as reading a different Bible translation or praying in a different way.

It's difficult to me sometimes but still comforting to know now who my true friends are.

It's comforting to not be scared and depressed all the time. For the first time in my life I'm actually not a pessemist and have gone without meds and therapists for over a year now which to me is completely awesome, all because I'm away from that destructive cult.
