That reminds me of the video of the female Leopard who killed and ate a monkey, but then groomed the monkey's baby after the fact throughout the night. I guess there's a maternal instinct in animals that transcends differences between species. There's a girl I know with a young son who doesn't like the family's pit bull, and smacks the dog occasionally. The dog has enough sense to recognize that it's a child and not to respond in kind, so he nudges the little guy with his nose and knocks the kid down and then goes on his way. I don't think we give animals enough credit some days.
