Ran into a witness I knew who had been near death with a unknown serious illness. He had lost 50lbs and was quarantined for a while as it was touch and go. I asked if they ever figured out what was wrong and he said, "I have faith in the healing power of Jehovah. Jehovah was my only hope." I asked if the doctors were able to figure out what was wrong. He said, "Jehovah was there for me. If it weren't for him I'd be dead." So I asked if the doctors gave him medication? He said yes. I asked if Jehovah helped them get a diagnosis? He said they did tests. So, this guy sounded like the PTL club or something. Have you found that there are pockets of Witnesses that attribute health cures to "Jehovah's power"? Discuss.
Did you know Witnesses that were more like Pentecostals, sort of?

Well,I'm not sure I know anyone like that, but I had a couple of close friends, who thought Jehovah gave them little "signs" to guide them in everyday life.
It drove me nuts. One day I just told one friend,Jehovah gave us common sense, and thinking ability for a reason. And one day,I took my own advice.
And the worse, are the Witnesses who claim they prayed to find their lost car keys, ugh. I guess Satan hid them, and Jehovah helped them get them back, lol.

yes I knew many jws who thought like that, and if you were ill it was the withdraw of the holy spirit due to not doing enough or secret sin. If you were a pioneer or elder or what not, then perhaps the illness was just Satan testing you. they have all kinds of strange ways of attributing illness to either Satan or Jehovah.

There are so many "back channel" rumors and "friend of a friend" experiences floating around the JW world that it become an extension of the TRUTH. Demon influence is especially emphasized. The bottom line is a cult with a very similar modus to fundy emotionalism.
