Interesting to see these murderers are now interested in law and human rights. One of the inmates murdered and decapitated his mother.
If these murderers had thought about the rights of the people they murdered they would not now be on death row.
Their innocent victims lost all their rights and had no say in how they were executed.
Only in America!
lol
The death penalty is considered cruel and unusal punishment in most industralized western democracies. We are considered the crazy ones to employ such barbarbism. The Supreme Court has allowed convicts who slept and drank in court through the trial to be executed. Incompetent counsel means no counsel, not someone lacking competence. When I was a third year law student, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund freely handed out death penalty appeals to students and recenet grads. If we could do better than trial counsel, it says a lot about the justice of the death penalty.
The question is do we lower ourselves to the status of repugnant criminals or do we embrace the due process guarantees of our Const'n. The KKK may burn crosses; the Nazis may commit genocide. Do we as a purportedly civilizated nation follow suit? I've seen the insides of jails. If I had a choice, I'd rather die.
The Roman Catholic Church is opposed to the death penalty as are other Christian groups. I would not term the Catholic Church a liberal, pinko, commie scum.
Google the Innocence Project and see how many convicted and sentenced to the death penalty were in fact innocence when DNA tests were performed. Once someone is executed, we just can't see oops, our mistake, have a new life, we'll pay damages.
Do we want the inmates to rule the asylum?
