No Room For George
The Japanese seem like the only ones who know how to utilize CGI properly. I never really watched this anime when I was younger, but when I saw the name in the thread title, the first thought of was "is that the one with the weird blonde lady?" Then I noticed the last two youtube clips.

I used to watch this over Frosted Flakes and milk before going to school in, like, the 1st grade.

Well, you can watch the movie "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato" (English version) by YouTube.
This is the most wonderful movie in a series of the Yamato. For example.
(12/12) the last scene:

these first videos are done well.
very realistic.
however, CGI objects often are too perfect. and that's how you spot it.
the whole CGI object is in focus, while the camera is impossible to make all things in focus.
the human eye cannot bring all objects at any distance into focus at the same time. you only get to focus on the thing you are looking at.
i don't know why i never heard of this cartoon. what year are we talking?

just Ron
I think it should be made in to a real movie that was cool. Also watched when younger got interupted some times for dinner made me mad.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_YamatoWell, the movie which I recommend to you is "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato (1978)."
Other series may sometimes be "trash."
For me (and many Japanese people), the movie "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato (1978)" is the last and a genuine Yamato.
