Bookmarked.
Don't forget to vote to have the charitable status revoked if you haven't already done so! You need to give your name when voting to ensure that you are a UK citizen, but these details aren't discosed to anyone. Read the terms and conditions if you need further reassurance.

Excellent work. So much mone and spending. I saw gates that cost £5,000 pound and one hall claiming the chairs and sound equipment was worth 20,000 pound. Utter tosh !

I've just discovered all this and have been analysing all the accounts, as many as I can. They all appear to be incomplete. No like an account summary I’ve seen. If you check other Christian charities they appear as I would expect with detail.
Has anybody ever wondered why and how most JW charities fall under the £10k threshold?Think; all receipts, other than legacies, refunds and the Gift Aid are cash. What is stopping cash from being moved from one congregation to another? I see this happening within the accounts anyway, but it could be done and not officially recorded. This would potentially spread out all 1400 or so JW charities takings, and help keep them under the £10k account submission limit required by the Charities Commission keeping most accounting under the radar. The patterns of donation amounts paid at each congregation could indicate any anomaly.
What bothers me most is; I can’t find any record of real charitable expenditure. All the money raised goes pretty much exclusively to further JW and The Watchtower Corporation, and not the public benefit. This is shocking as they are a charity, in receipt of Gift Aid! They are actually a business! Money is being directed into Hedge Funds... our tax.
1077961 - WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY OF BRITAIN claim they are not a fund raising charity...how does that work?

Won't it be something like giving the surplus to the Branch? I mean, rather than a congo having its savings in its own savings account, I think it is encouraged to deposit surplus money with the Society who will supposedly get a better rate of interest.

Hey Blablaman,
Having been accounts "servant" for many years there is actually a simple reason why so many congregations fall under the 10k limit - they simply don't get enough money. I wish I could say that in the 10+ years I did the job that I was asked to launder funds but the reality is that many congregations simply don't get the funds. When they do have money in the bank they do loan it to the society, thereby only having it in the books for one year, or perhaps gift some of it to other congregations but that's all shown in the returns.
There are some well off congregations. Take a look at Lancing, a congregation on the south coast of England. They show over £500k in the bank. They had a big legacy dontated to them. It's all spent now - they have just moved into their spanking new kingdom hall. None of that money went to help local people in a direct way but at least the local dubs have a shiny new hall (complete with replaced floor 'cos the orignal was too wonkey thanks to the shoddy RBC labour) from which to go out in the field service.

We have to add a bit to our usual description of the WT as "A real Estate and Publishing Company posing as a religion" and add " and fraudulently as a Charity" too.
