Do the Witnesses believe that their religion is the only right one?

Anyone who is serious about his religion should think that it is the right one. Otherwise, why would he or she be involved in it? Christians are admonished: "Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine." (1 Thessalonians 5:21) A person should make sure that his beliefs can be supported by the Scriptures, for there is only one true faith. Ephesians 4:5 confirms this, mentioning "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." Jesus did not agree with the modern, relaxed view that there are many roads, many religions, all leading to salvation. Instead, he said: "Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it." Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they have found it. Otherwise, they would look for another religion.—Matthew 7:14.

Interestingly the response doesnt actually say YES we are. Im shocked they could forget to simply state that fact, but instead answer with a stupid riddle which hardly makes them unique in being the only true religion!

I don't know, I think the first sentence is a good answer.

"If you don't believe it, why the fuck are you seriously part of the religion, stupid?"

*** w08 11/1 p. 28 Our Readers Ask Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Believe That They Are the Only Ones Who Will Be Saved?

Jehovah’s Witnesses think that they have found the true religion. If they did not think so, they would change their beliefs. Like adherents of many religious faiths, Jehovah’s Witnesses hope to be saved. However, they also believe that it is not their job to judge who will be saved. Ultimately, God is the Judge. He decides.—Isaiah 33:22.

God’s Word reveals that those who would be saved must not only want salvation but also cooperate with the Savior. To illustrate: Suppose that a hiker becomes lost in a wilderness. He desperately wants to find his way out. Will he perish, or will he survive? The outcome depends on the way he responds to help. Out of pride, he may refuse the help of a rescuer, or savior. On the other hand, he could humbly accept help and reach safety.

In a similar way, salvation belongs to those who cooperate with mankind’s Rescuer, Jehovah God. Salvation is a gift from God, yet not all people will attain it. God’s Son, Jesus, said: “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.”—Matthew 7:21.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that God saves only those who exercise faith in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus and closely follow Jesus’ teachings. (Acts 4:10-12) Consider three important requirements for salvation that are revealed in God’s Word.

    (1) “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves,” Jesus told his companions. (John 13:35) Jesus’ own example of giving his life in behalf of others stressed the importance of love. Those who love others are demonstrating a quality vital for salvation.

    (2) “I have made your name known to them,” said Jesus in prayer to his Father. (John 17:26) Jesus knew how important God’s personal name, Jehovah, was to his Father. Jesus prayed for his Father’s name to “be sanctified.” (Matthew 6:9) Sanctifying God’s name includes knowing that name and treating it as important and holy. Like Jesus, those seeking salvation need to use God’s name. They also need to teach others about God’s name and qualities. (Matthew 28:19, 20) In fact, only those calling on God’s name will be saved.—Romans 10:13.

    (3) “My kingdom is no part of this world,” Jesus said to Pontius Pilate. (John 18:36) Few today demonstrate faith in God’s Kingdom, or government, of which Jesus is King. Instead, they place their trust in human institutions. By contrast, those who will be saved loyally support God’s Kingdom and teach others about how it will liberate all faithful mankind.—Matthew 4:17.

After learning some of the requirements for salvation, Jesus’ disciples said: “Who possibly can be saved?” Jesus answered: “The things impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:18-30) Jehovah’s Witnesses diligently try to meet these requirements for salvation. They also work hard to help others to be saved.

*** w01 6/1 p. 16 par. 17 “If God Is for Us, Who Will Be Against Us?” ***Is it presumptuous of Jehovah’s Witnesses to point out that they alone have God’s backing? Actually, no more so than when the Israelites in Egypt claimed to have God’s backing in spite of the Egyptians’ belief, or when first-century Christians claimed to have God’s backing to the exclusion of Jewish religionists. The facts speak for themselves. In 235 lands Jehovah’s Witnesses are doing the work Jesus foretold that his true followers would be doing in the time of the end: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”—Matthew 24:14.

Blondie has given pretty much the perfect quote, as always. All I can think to add is that the Wt seem to assume in their answer that (all other) religions think as Jw's do, that they are the one true religion, and that all others are wrong..

Is it presumptuous of Jehovah’s Witnesses to point out that they alone have God’s backing?

How about . . . . "Is it presumptuous of Jehovah's Witnesses to point out that they alone have God's backing when God has failed them over and over again on their claim to "spirit-directed" interpretations of when The End will come? [See 1899, 1914, 1925, 1975, etc etc]

    Just thinking out loud. . . . .

Theres a difference between stating we the JWs are the one and only right religion and saying everyone believes they are part of the right religion.

    @blondie

While your quotes are great, there is a difference between a public statement thats on the net now and something that few from the public can see themselves. We all know the writing department confuses itself, however that sort of info is not publically available in such a simple form.

"Jehovah's Witnesses believe they have found the right religion." So. How does that make it the only true one? Just about everyone who has a religion thinks they have the right one. This is just a dance. They will not come out and say they believe anyone who is not a JW will die. Not until they are hooked anyway.

If WT's JW org was the only true religion, why are they running out in droves just on the eve of salvation?

Because the many truths that only they teach, are overturned by all their wacky and wrong teachings!

For decades folks said: "Wait on Jehovah to fix it", then: "There's no where else to go to!"

The last few years it's been: "If this is what WT, GB, and elders are all about, this can't be right!"

So today many realize they must flee from all religion including the WT's publishing org. before it's end!
