The Catholic More Righteous Than Almost Any Witness

    Last night on "60 Minutes",....

They featured the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. He exposed his own church, his own "organization". He exposed documents and testimony about how his church covered up child molesting priests throughout Ireland.

He went to a school, to remind himself of what an 8 year old boy looked like - because he was aware of one nasty case involving a boy of that age.

When he was talking, he paused..... because he held back tears.

If you are still a "loyal" Witness, I have two things to tell you.

First, this man is still an Archbishop. If he was "in the Truth", he likely would be disfellowshipped for causing "division".

Second, he is more righteous than almost any Jehovah's Witness because he stood up for what is right, despite a powerful organization that opposes him. This is different from the unquestioning obedience of JW's - which evidently may OVERLOOK and may COVERUP the sexual abuse of children. He MADE A SELF SACRIFICE THAT MOST JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WOULD REJECT.

And that's the essense of why I say,

He is a "Catholic More Righteous Than Almost Any Witness"

......................because he did what was right.

I am always glad to see someone who is willing to stand up for what is right.

    Amen.

A man of principle, and the tears show compassion too. I wonder if he will have the strength to leave the church, I doubt it, he will put it down to the evil of imperfect men, and not ask "Where was god when the little ones were being buggered ?" Watching ? That makes Him and Jesus filthy perverted voyeurs then.

The Watchtower is always warning its members not to harbor "fear of men". Unless, of course it's their "elders".

If it weren't for "fear of men" the Watchtower couldn't hold its organization together.

    Amen ...

I have seen the Galveston Diocese Newsletter here in Houston and the issue I read had special 1-800 phone numbers for victims of sexual abuse to call in, the number was also for priests wanting help - the ad encourage catholics to call in, denounce, child abuse ... it offered help for both victims and victimizers ... YOU WILL NEVER SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN A WATCHTOWER PUBLICATION ... unfortunately child sexual abuse is everywhere even in the privacy of family homes, but to intentionally cover it up, it has no name .

This individual clergyman may be genuine but lets not forget the extent of child rape in the Catholic church is beyond your imagination to comprehend.

The cover-up that went on for decades and is still going on reached the highest levels of the church.

The Vatican's response is nothing but a PR damage limitation exercise.

The Watchtower's record on child protection is appalling but compared to Rome it's like Mary Poppins.

Its hard to find any JW who takes the moral high road when they leave the KH- and explain publicly why they are leaving the WT religion and accept the heat for warning other JWs. "I found my way out the back door- let them do the same, as I fade away."

In the matter of child rape, the cover up of the Catholic Church has certainly been blown. All that matters, is that they themselves are forced to admit that it is a problem. It is not, however, a matter of being more righteous than the Watchtower. The Watchtower on the other hand, consistently denies and prevaricate that chiild rape/abuse happens inside the Organization.

The lawyers representing the Catholic Church passed all boundaries in defending the church. Time after time they were vicious to a degree not needed for zealous representation. It was a very stupid policy in terms of liability. These stories are whispered among parish members. Only a degenirate would not feel empathy for the children. The church could not see its financial interest as opposed to the interests of individual pedophile priests. An open dialogue, sorting out responsibility lines, education, and pro-active policies would have saved the church hundreds of millions.

My sister converted to Roman Catholicism. Her husband and she are against anyone not Catholic. Yet even nonsophisicated members started diverting their contributions to actual on the ground charities rather than the diocese. Multiple that by millions of members and you have big trouble.

The Witness clearly have another path to take. It would be consistent with WT doctrine and culture. The so-called two witness rule (perhaps Jesus was addressing a specific solution. When he told Peter to endlessly forgive his brother, he knew Peter's brother and the family dynamics. Maybe he used a five or no persosn rule on other occasions) is a one time mention compared to all the ethical and moral lessons he taught in the 98.99% of his work. A good reputation is important. B/c of the Catholic situation, concern for pedophiles is very hot with the public. Indeed, alerting Caaesar's troops9 the police and DA) can be done. Once secular matters are addressed, they can address religious concerns.

Of course, in my religions the lay people are not stupid sheep. They would demand protection of children or f....the papacy/GB.
