  Haven't seen mention of this by anyone else so here goes...since

  Many governments are about control and obedience and ultimately utter dependence on it

  Maybe WTBTS wants to demonstrate how it exercises control and creates utter dependence by

  Discouraging all the things which encourage independence in both action and thought ie..higher education wealth freedom of thought and then

  Severe punishment for non compliance to doctrines. BY DF ing and shunning

  Maybe the want to show them how to dominate and control the masses with mind control. Your thoughts?

  No.

  They joined because somebody at Brooklyn HQ thought it might give them advantages setting up branches and importing literature into third world nations.

  No they were short of a few good books so they joined the UN library and needed a card so they claimed. One of the books they needed was an English lanquage dictionary evidently one or two of the Governing Body members had a dispute as to the true meaning of the word generation and it was affecting their game of Scrabble.

  They affiliate themselves with the UN and it's agencies to get political pull in countries where they're being "persecuted" along with other fine American cults like Scientology.

  WTBTS members of UN because of...

  They thought they could get away with it without getting caught. They thought they had everyone mind controlled enough that no one would even look. Then, when they got caught out, they knew that because of their cult mind control techniques, no matter how much evidence was presented most would still beilieve them so they had nothing to loose and everything to gain.
