The "Worldlies"

I just wanted to say that I think it's disgusting that JW's refer to people who happen not to be in their religion as "worldlies." Like we're not even people, just some other group, like aliens. I suspect JW's would also not be beneath calling homosexual people "the gays" which is kind of similar. This overt or covert bashing of what they call worldly people happens a lot at meetings, I gather, but it happened to me for the first time when I was at the horrible Sunday WT study meeting where they went over the "mentally diseased" article and how to shun your loved ones. This would have been Oct or Nov of last year, I think. I've been fuming about it ever since. I have never encountered less love and more self-righteousness in such a short amount of time.

I attend meetings sometimes with my husband's JW daughter and her crazy family, just to insinuate myself and keep tabs on everything. This us vs. them attitude (or holier than thou if you prefer) is awful and I plan to combat it by introducing her to more "worldlies" at volunteer events and other public stuff. But every time I plan something, it's "no, I have phone service this morning" or "I have a special meeting at the KH" or "I have to study my watchtower." Grrr. It seems like there is never a good reason for missing any type of JW event.

Sorry, just one of us worldlies venting.

All cults seem to use this method, to reinforce belief, (we are right, they are wrong) and to bolster the control the cult has, it is not easy to combat, I wish you well.

As someone who was a JW for 25 yrs and is now "IN THE WORLD" as offensive and disguting this hateful segregation is, be gald you get to just visit and walk away back to the evil world, as normal and nice as some of them seem, they are so far removed from normality it isnt even funny. They sit with smiles on their faces talking about the end of all the human race, God with fire, destroying the whole world but them and the "righteous" (and in their minds that does not include JW's they dont like or deem worthy lol.) all for a a paradise earth (not one verse in bible says that term or promise) in exchange for the death of billions of people.

All that death so they can pet a lion or learn piano in their 300,000th year of life.....

It is good you are aware and make sure you have answers and a way out for your husbands daughter when she has had enough. Most JW teens if not all have a moment of wanting to leave (around 16) but they cant, the rule is "do... or die" and you can go die elsewhere too, not in the home of a JW, they boot kids out without a thought. By you being there the offer becomes "do... or move in with your dad."

Worldly.... bunch of cult locked fools.

The Worldlies, sounds like a good sitcom title, maybe you should pitch it. J

An additional def. for "worldly" is "sophisticated, street-smart". If they use the word around you to describe someone, use the word as though intended in a positive light.

    JW: "Oh, she's worldly."

You: "Yes, she has a university degree, travels extensively, and volunteers for Christian charities. Her children are so talented and sweet."

If you want to get under their skin, don't call it KH, call it the JW "church". Refer to the memorial as "their holiday". And talk to them like they're naive and uneducated, never doing anything fun.
