Found this somewhere on a "pro JW" site thought I'd make an observation. But here's the pic first, of WT artwork being used on a banner for a Catholic group in Singapore:

And here's one of many examples of WT copyright "borrowing" as the good Singapore church did:

Well I think I like the WT artist's borrowing better! Maybe just a coincidence?

They also borrowed from a liquor ad once. Even had to replace the cover when the issue was reprinted in the bound volumes.

As an aside, I've always found it interesting how the Society gradually hit upon a consistent image of how Jesus, Paul, and others are depicted artistically.

I wonder if the WT will sue?

@Leolaia - I remember that one. Was a silhouette picture for whiskey or something.

It was absolutely certain in my day that Jesus was clean shaven. They ridiculed depictions of Jesus with a beard. An early chalice was their guide. I stumbled upon the chalice at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I believe it was the same. The name was similar as was the date. Altho I had been out for years, I studied it carefully. I was as close to the case as you can get w/o being arrested. My mom was with me. I could not figure out if Jesus had a beard or not. The details were not clear.

Now he has a beard. This is not remarkable. Aesthetics change. Every artist uses their imagination painting Jesus. Recently, I saw a Rembrant exhibit on the Faces of Jesus. Rembrandt was one of the first Protestant painters and refused to use Catholic templates. He would have been severely punished in a Catholic jurisdiction. Rembrant used Jews in Amsterdam as models for jesus.

When you are the official organ of God, you should be consistent. I wonder how high up these decisions are made.

@BOTR - Great perspective you have. How high are these decisions made? All the way at the top. Fred Franz once said this isn't a bottom up organization its a top down organization!

@TH68 - When it comes to illustrations and strange or hidden things in artwork, there is a lot of weird stuff.

The subliminal stuff is there in a few, no doubt in my mind. I don't presonally see much in all the mirroring and weird faces in clouds, etc. but some are very very onvious when you know where to look.

    Jests put through daily
