Your Facebook password is private, as is what you post on private areas. Until ACTA takes full effect and gets those sites shut down, the password should remain private. Also, what if the student gives the password out, only to change it immediately? That is always a good idea--when your account gets compromised or there is a threat of such, you should change the password at once.

Facebook’s minimum age requirement is 13-years-old.

whoah whoah whoah whoah. . . you mean this girl LIED about her age online? That's just sick! Who does that?

The ACLU says school administrators forced R.S. to hand over her Facebook login credentials. . . after a boy’s mother complained that her son and the girl were talking about sex.

I'm genuinely confused about how the school fits into this at all.

If the boys parents have a problem, they should take it up with their son, or the girls parents.

The school is there to TEACH children, not raise them.

This is like going to your dentist and asking him to tell your neighbor to stop letting his dog poop on your lawn.

Not completely private. In a lawsuit, the other side can request Facebook postings through "e-discovery". E-discovery is a new term to track a person's internet postings and usage. A favorite of divorce attorneys worldwide.

I'm so glad our tax dollars are being put to good use by policing the Facebook postings of a 12 year old.

I guess online privacy is going extinct. Orwell was right.
