UNPACKING the language that Traps

"You Must Be Holy Because Jehovah Is Holy", The Watchtower, February 15, 1976

page 124, "Would not a failure to respond to direction from God through his organization really indicate a rejection of divine rulership?"

The above quoted Watchtower article came the year AFTER the failure of 1975 on every level.

Not only was the worldwide publicity connected with 1975 totally embarassing to Jehovah's name and organization it was the 2nd time the error

    had been made!

1872 SIX THOUSAND YEARS OF HUMAN EXISTENCE END (The Time Is At Hand, p. 54). [See 1889]

The language that traps Jehovah's Witnesses in their own religion in spite of the worst possible public failures demonstrating goofy guesswork

is densely packed into misleading loyalty to God as loyalty to Governing Body dictates.

    1. Jehovah is the Supreme Authority and His son, Jesus are mankind's rightful rulers.

2.These divine rulers are invisible, silent and humbly allow mere imperfect humans to direct all their earthly subjects.

3.The imperfect humans who direct Divine activity on Earth are the Governing Body.

4.The chain of evidence demonstrating the faulty understanding of prophecy by this Governing Body indicates the need for constant revisions.

5.Anybody aware of the errors and revisions who might call attention to the shame cast upon Jehovah as their "Director" are misguided and disloyal.

6.The wisest course of action is to allow errors to be taught and to fully accept and repeat them publicly, attributing the source of these eventual mistakes to God.

7.Pure worship consists of loyalty to men before loyalty to any objective demonstration of false teachings.

It must be disappointing to start a sensible thread and find that 3 hours later, no one has responded.

Perhaps talking gibberish would get you more attention.

Good point though - the leaders of the Watchtower organization presume to speak for God, who ever that is, but they speak only for themselves.

Yes, it's an excellent opening post...

Now, the question is, how does one clearly lay these points out to an active, believing Jehovah's Witness - how to get these points past their "anti-apostate" mental walls...

To your question ziddina ... my experience has been that you can make a point that should be devastating to their doctrine, their eyes will glaze over and their heads will nod in acknowledgement, however the next words out of their mouths will betray the fact that nothing you said has had any impact.

Perhaps a waste of time. Until someone is open to change, it is difficult to have much influence on their thought processes.

Having said that, I'll keep trying as long as they keep coming around.

Brilliant find Terry! So if mankind's 6,000 year existence ended in 1872 and this was from God then 1975 was a sham. And if 1975 was the end of 6,000 years of mankind's existence and this was from God, 1872 must have been a sham. So either way, it can't possibly be from God!

    Spot on, old chap!

I should have stated it as elegantly as you!

Great post Terry. I would love to just cut and paste those points into an email and send to my "active" friends. For some reason, the thought of doing that hurts....

Reminds me of when I was younger, and my brother and I would "fight". Neither one of us REALLY hit each other with any serious force. The thought of actually hurting each other kept us from that.

Throwing serious evidence/attacks like this at the "followers" just seems like giving them a real, full on, punch to the face.

I guess I'm not angry enough yet. Or, as some here would suggest....just a whimp.

You lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

    That's an old saying.

    It applies to JW's too.
