Attention: Active JWs who post videos on YouTube...

...specifically, those who tend to BLOCK the Comments field:

If you are firmly convinced that you have “The Truth TM ” and that nothing anybody says can convince you that you really don’t, why do you find it absolutely necessary to block anyone from posting their comments?

What you are doing, essentially, is preventing viewers from examining ALL the evidence as the Bible clearly mandates in Deu 18:20-22, 1 Tes 5:21, 1 John 4: 1, etc.. So why not allow people to scrutinize all the comments and work out their own conclusions? If you really do have “The Truth TM ”, then people will tend to gravitate towards your conclusion on the matter being presented on your video. In fact, you will get a lot more positive comments than negative comments (if you present truthful information).

Also, by blocking comments, you are really demonstrating an extreme lack of faith in Jehovah and thereby doubting that your “Truth” can withstand any comment that is posted on your video.

    Just something to think about…

I saw some blogs and other posting by JWs. They always end up blocking comments or discontinuing the blog when they were about to lose in the argument....

Yup they love to block anything that makes them think.

JW's who make videos and then block comments really do themselves a disservice. I know for myself, if they block the comments and I have something to say....I just make a response video (/user/Danmera) Blocking doesn't work. To me, it just shows you are afraid of the truth, and you prefer your little bubble.

What I am so amazed at is just how many active JWs there are commenting on apostate videos. (taking their word for it they are JWs) For myself, I would have NEVER looked when I was still a believer. It wasn't until I lost faith, and started to see thru the sham, that I started to look. Even then, I would literally break out in sweats.

Ironically, it was an article on the official site (june 22, 2000 awake), and a talk at the DC (2011 Beware of enemies of the kingdom: Apostates) that was instrumental in me jumping into research with both feet. Read the article to gear up and protect myself from the info on the net , and the talk did EVERYTHING they warned of in the article. It was like whoa, I didn't realize the WT was the one I needed protection from.

Likewise as they do here, better to run with your beliefs rather than express a measure of intellectual honesty.

The reason I suppose why intellectual honesty and religion are really incompatible with one and another.

What makes you think the people who post those YouTubes come here and read your comments?

As I understand it, coming here is an offense punishable by being disfellowshipped. If those people are so devoted to The Truth, they wouldn't be caught dead here. I've left a number of theological questions here for JWs and, if they're here, they've been unable to address them. Or they don't want to address them.

JWs have become less knowlegable about the scriptures over the past several decades. They used to want to come in. Now they just shove a Watchtower in your hand when you open the door and leave. Back in the Seventies and early Eighties, they almost put their feet in the door; nowadays they seem like they can't wait to get away. They don't even want to discuss religion anymore...and I don't mean debate. They don't even want to talk about their church, even when I shut up and let them speak.

I don't know if it's because they're black in a predominant white neighborhood, but they come in cars and outload a bunch of people (and kids) all in their Sunday dress. They're all armed with Watchtowers and other material, but they don't hit me up for Bible studies like they used to.

I find JWs to be generally polite, but not very knowlegable about the scriptures or religion in general. (And that includes the ones here.)

    Why have things changed?
