I used to love how RACE BANNON'S M-1 Carbine Never ran out of ammo!
Since Hollywood is always remaking or re-imagining stuff, I think they should do a Jonny Quest movie! It could star Kelsey Grammar as Dr. Quest, Mark Harmon could be Race Bannon, and the kids could be whoever....
Besides watching cartoons, there are plenty of other fun things you can do with a fine Saturday morning. Going outside to play is one of them. Or, going to a fun vacation spot--camping, fishing (the water type, not the field circus type), going to an amusement park, and just playing with other children in the neighborhood are fine things to do on a fine Saturday morning. And when it is wet or too hot or cold, you can play video games, read a good book, or just sleep in.
Additionally, Saturday morning field circus ties everything to religion. You go to school 5 days a week (and, when it's school vacation, you are supposed to pious-sneer). There are the boasting sessions and Family Waste the Evening Night, along with the regular family study to deal with when you are not trying to do homework. Then Saturday morning comes along, your time off, and BAM! It's time for field circus--all damn morning. Then you have to prepare for the boasting session the next day. Sunday morning, you attend the boasting session and then do some more field circus. By the time you are done for the day, it is time to prepare for more school--there goes the weekend.
It was all about cartoons for me too. This was back when you only had 13 channels and only the big three networks had cartoons. When we got a VCR it was better since we made sure we taped all out favorites. Even though we usually were back from service around one, it left not a whole lot of time in the day to do something really fun. I had to be limited to the town we lived in. Then Sunday came around and we had the meeting. JWs certainly know how to ruin weekends.
I hate field circus, PERIOD!
But saturday morning circus is the worst by far.
I am *not* a morning person. I hated having to get up early every single morning to either go to work, go in field service, or go to meeting. I feel so much happier and relaxed knowing that I get to sleep in 2 days each week.
I understand completely.
Garfield and Friends... 9:00 Saturday morning.
My siblings and I often had the "Saturday morning flu". Typically our parents called us out on it.. occasionally they seemed to have a heart.

I remember I used the excuse of having to do a report for Science class. It was actually an extra credit report. If you watched a Saturday science show and wrote up a report you could get extra credit. My mother was mad about this.
I really don't remember if I did the report or not,I think I just wanted to sleep in and not having to be worried about running into kids from school.
Yeah,I picked doing homework rather than going out in service,so I wouldn't be stuffed in an old, gasoline, smelling car, like a pack of sardines. And hoping no one would answer the door when it was my turn to talk.
Now,that I don't go out anymore,I really did hate field service.
Field Service was not for everyone. Honest, I did enjoy working in FS with some of my young friends. There were mornings that we played hooky, and got to watch cartoons. That Johnny Quest cartoon never was on Saturday morning when I was a kid. It usually appeared in the afternoon, after school time. I really enjoyed that one. I agree with, Toth. Hollywood is remaking shows i.e Tintin. Johnny Quest would be a great remake.
I got to play with the kids in the neighborhood alot, so I wasn't deprived there.
I just didn't like the constant routine, every saturday. It was overkill I thought.
