A lot of us have heard the first half of the above title at one time or another. Some could argue that even if the doctrine is wrong the comaradery and fellowship of the group fosters good family life and friendship. Clubs offer a certain sense of entilement which makes one feel wanted and part of something greater than themselves.
Why is this not an acceptable argument with regards to Jehovah's Witnesses?
The list below may answer the question:
Group shunning leading to PTSD among existing or former members
Blood doctrine especially with regard to children
Dedication to a corporation under the age of consent
Depression
Mental abuse of children with regard to participation in holidays, sports, etc with their peers
Women are 2nd class citizens
Marital Stife created by the Watchtower policies
Self Policing of members
Lack of philanthropic endeavors
Policies which contribute to poverty amoung its members
Policies which promote gossiping and divisions
Claiming happiness for members when they are anything but...
Separation of families
Promotion of Egoism and Self promotion
Use of titles to segregate members and outsiders
Promotion of unbiblical doctrine to brand their religion
...and the list goes on and on. All of the items in the list make-up a toxic environment poisoning the minds of the believers to the point of mentally altering them forever.
