As I mentioned in an earlier post, its the CO visit at my parents cong this week and I know that Tues night my dad was at a meeting until midnight. Could that have been one of these meetings? And what do they discuss for so long?

It is simply the meeting where you prepare for the CO's visit. As I recall it is primarily looking at deletions and appointments and making sure that the CO and his wife are catered for.

It was for me the most interesting elders meeting because I was always trying to push for certain ones to be considered for appointment and the rest of the body were looking at reasons not to appoint them.

Interestingly enough we had one CO who got so cheesed off with noone ever getting put forward, that he made us go through all the young men in the congregation and explain why they were not put forward. After that meeting 2 men were put forward to the branch!

Thanks Cantleave. Hell of a long meeting though.

If there are specific problems in the congo or disagreements on the BOE it can take ages. We used to go down the pub afterwards too - so that added a couple of hours

surely first and full most must be the CO's picky/fussy dietary reqs
