I'll try again.
Perhaps some of you know that Randy Bachman of Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive fame was a Mormon. I recently saw his bandmate from the Guess Who, Burton Cummings in concert, and he related how the religion caused problems for the band. So tonight I was watching Bachman Turner Overdrive on TV and did a search on wiki to see what it had to say. It appears he has now left the Mormons for the same reasons many of us have left the JW's. His comments on Wiki, which for some reason I can't cut and paste in here, sounds so much like what an ex-JW would say.
I then did a search for info on his son Tal, who I read was raised a Mormon and served his 2 years as a missionary. I came across this website:
http://mormoncurtain.com/topic_talbachman_section1.html (If someone can make this clickable for me that would be great)
Very interestin...his comments about why people really leave the church and church resignation numbers. This was written back in 2005, and I had no idea the mormons were having the problems described. Makes me wonder if the WT has the same thing going on and they are cooking the numbers they reveal.

I was a Guess Who fan and later a BTO fan. Didn't know until years later about Randy Bachman's Mormon faith causing issues in the Guess Who.
Tal Bachman was interviewed by Bill Maher in Maher's movie "Religulous". He talked of the shunning of ex-Mormons. Mormon shunning is more covert while JW shunning is written in stone policy. I was disappointed that Maher didn't take a stab at JWs in the movie, if he took the time to interview Tal Bachman about being an ex-Mormon.

Undercover,
If you are a Guess Who fan and if you ever get a chance to see Burton Cummings in concert, by all means go. He played nothing but Guess Who songs and did them perfect. And from the concert that I saw on TV last night, BTO does just as good a job.
Regarding Tal, I'm really enjoying reading what he wrote here. It's real easy to relate to what he went through for an ex-JW. I haven't seen 'Religulous" but I make plans on doing so now.

I've seen Cummings on TV, but not live. Would like to one day.
The Tal Bachman part of Religulous was very short. The whole movie makes fun of religion from Catholics to Mormons to Christian theme parks to truck stop churches. The part on Mormons was interesting in that Maher was asked to leave Mormon property, so he interviewed Bachman and another ex-Mormon off the grounds, if I remember correctly.
