Male Domination = No Judge Deborah

I had to laugh at today's Watchtower, when it spoke of "Judge Barak".

It's this sort of thing that tells you that their "scholarship" is non-existent. The record in Judges clearly states that 'Deborah was judging Israel' - oh, and it repeats the point because 'Israel came to her to be judged'. ..... Brave Barak told her he wasn't going into battle unless she went with him.

No Judge Deborah. What else can you expect from this male dominated cult? They even re-write history.

Seems to me that the WT really can't cope with women unless they are industrious with the needle like Tabitha/Dorcas or self-sacrificing in the extreme like Jephtha's daughter.

I always had a hard time with the conflicting accounts of how women are viewed in the bible...

In the OT, you have Deborah, who was very respected and held a high position...

In the NT, you have "women are to sit down and shut up" (paraphrasing, of course).

Hey, Yaweh, wanna make up your mind here?

Judging Anezthy ~ I have been an on/off again Witness for over 20 years. My mom's name is Deborah... Even today If she say's NO! It's no.... and I aint't even gonna dare to argument with her. If my mom Deborah says she ain't going to battle... I'm not going to battle. Just a joke.... my mom Deborah couldn't give a rats behind for the WTBT$. I still won't go against her though, man she's tough! Just say'n!

    Hey metatron!

Thanks for that. Judge Deborah. Don't recall hearing that before.

I once made a list of things that religion is against, and may have forgotten about women! Sorry!

Previously I did wonder how many women were being denied an orgasm (their dues) and a fulfilling sex life by the Watchtower Sanhedrin ruling of no oral sex on pain of being disfellowshipped.

w80 11/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers: "In view of Judges 4:4, can Deborah be viewed as one of the judges of ancient Israel, along with Samson, Gideon and others?" I sensed the usual hand wringing and contortionist acrobatics in response to a tough question...

It seems they did at least relent after preventing women from divorcing their husbands for "unnatural" sex relations with another person or being (animal):

This clearly marks a correction in the view expressed on previous occasions in the columns of this magazine, but faithful adherence to what the Scriptures actually say requires it.

So the previous view was unfaithful (apostate) then?

Yep, if you weren't born in the league with big Jim and the twins you're not deserving of any worthy title or admiration.

I recently learned this when reading a Children's Bible to my son. It has a picture of Judge Deborah, who is described as a "strong leader." I tried to remember how this story was depicted in the My Book of Bible Stories, and instead of showing a strong woman leading the way it has a lovely picture of a bleeding man with a peg through his head.
