GNAW off the Paw or How to survive using imagination

    Life is survival.

    Striving for....survival.

What does a wolf do if it's paw is caught in a trap? Gnaws off the paw and escapes.

Human mountain climbers cut their own limbs off to survive, too.

Human intelligence searches for survival strategy in completely hopeless situations.

    Imagination comes in handy.

GOD is the ultimate strategy for escaping death.

GOD is invested with outside-laws of physics-power to help us cheat death.

    Naturally there is never something-for-nothing.

    Hence, we must PAY.

And so, the rambling story of how to get to the point where we cheat death. (Religion is invented!)

God is a story unconsciously crafted over millennia. At first primitive and bestial. Later, much more socialized.

Compare Old Testament Jehovah with nicey-nicey New Testament Jesus.

Mankind's subconscious had made many improvements.

The only way to NOT DIE is to gnaw off the paw of COMPLETELY RATIONAL THINKING.

Maintaining hope when there really isn't any.

Early man needed "outside help" when there was none.

Supernatural aid was invented. Total BELIEF.

While men grew more and more rational they turned to more of a sure thing: science and technology.

(While holding on to God, just in case).

    The race is on!

It seems I have heard a ribald joke about this subject, Terry.

    Something about "Coyote Ugly".

How are things, James? Are you feeling okay? Hope all is well! We really missed you Sunday.

It would really BE UGLY if I ever had to gnaw of my anything to escape !

Hi Terry. The young man (Mai's nephew) died late Saturday afternoon. He was only 29.

It was what they call early-onset leukemia - which had been in remission for a number of years since he was a child. When it came back 3 years ago, they attempted a bone marrow transplant (which includes killing off all the cancerous white blood cells as well as the bone marrow).

Apparantly, this did not work, as he never regenerated any effective immune system, and he just died of massive infection all over the body. The issues over the weekend were whether to end life support or not - there really was no further hope, but some wanted to keep him on life support.

Everybody felt bad about it - he was the only son of her sister, and had just gotten married 2 years before.

They are having a joint Catholic/Buddist ceremony in California this weekend.

    Ghastly how REAL death is.

Buddists are perhaps more accepting of its reality, I assume?

Christians never are given a clue they will actually perish, so, it comes as more of a shock.

    My condolences, James.

Perhaps more accepting, but they still carry just as much grief as anybody else. Mai and I lost her oldest son (we still have one son and a daughter) at the same age in 1996 due to an accident, and she was emotionally distressed for at least five years. The Buddism helped her through it, I think.

I do admire the non-judgemental aspects of this religion, as well. Practically as much a philosophy as a real religion, IMHO.

Terry, you got it going on with your thoughts!

There are long periods, however, in which I can't find an idea worth even a small paragraph. It comes and goes.....:)

I just went back and took a look at some of my old topics and was dismayed to discover I'd forgotten most of my most delicious insights!

I had to re-read them because I didn't even remember having them in the first place.

    Sad, but true.
