Have all these cases been settled and paid off? I don't hear much about any new cases, does anyone know of any current litagation against the Watchtower for gross incompetence?

I think a worldwide settlement is impossible. New cases will continue to occur, regardless of the actions of the WT. I am certain not everyone wants to settle.
B/c these cases do tend to get settled, it is hard to know what is happening. Every state has different laws and different countries more so.
I wonder if the grandchild of a GB member were a victim if the two witness rule and not report to authorities would suddenly disappear.

There is a law firm that handles WTS abuse cases. They can't give you names, but they might tell you there is never an end to abuse cases, new ones and finding out about hidden ones.

I think any of us that have this question need to study and read up on the pathology of pedophiles.

There was a case in one of my old congregations recently. Elders had done nothing. The victim went to the police and the abuser put in prison.
Newspapers printed the case, however no mention of JWs in there. I was told the elders "had worked very, very hard to keep the JW name out of the paper".

Frankly, even if the WTBTs were vigilant and did everything correctly, pedophiles would still exist in the org. It is not the act itself b/c the Wt has little control. What they can do is to give notice that a sex offender has joined the congregation. How many biologically driven criminals invite an adult witness over to witness the act for corroboration. The prison sentences are very high. The worst sort of inmates despise pedophiles. No prison system can guard their safety.
The Wt should disfellow or make public pedophile cases. Most victims will turn to the elders to find out what to do. Reporting to the authorities should be strongly encouraged. There should be no stigma that the child asked for it. A child's word should stand up to that of an adult. No one is convicting anyone beyond a reasonable doubt. The Bible does not require reasonable doubt. One party, the pedopile, can defend themselves. The other party, the child, may not be able to even articulate what is happening. The WT should stand on the side of the vulnerable. Jesus did.
I don't know of any other crime with such a high recidivism rate. Parents should have notice. Neighbors should have notice. Such a person should be strictly forbidden from any public ministry.
Few people would blame the Roman Catholic Church for an individual priest's pedophile behavior. What makes people vomit is the church cover up.

The most despised is the 'apostate' when it should be a serial child abuser.

No. I just was made aware of four victims and two perps a couple of weeks ago! The perps: An Elder and an MS. ! The victims and the families were threatened with disfellowshipping. Some quit the Borg and have been painted as lying apostates.......

At first, I thought it was a lie, that forgiveness flows freely to repentant pedophiles. I was wrong, there is an unspoken rule, elders have no real choice but to disfellowship the sin of adultry, even if the one committing fornication is insane. Why is this same rule not applied to pedophiles, sex offenders, making them subject to automatic disfellowshiping for five years? Punishment should be stronger, than two consenting adults committing adultry? Why no leniency with crazy ones? There is no "not reason by mental defect" clause, I have seen ones who were mentally retarded disfellowshiped for porne'ia, while confessed child fondlers kept their position of elder. That's just wrong!
One pedophile that remains elusive, knew the "three year rule" written in the 1970s literature, he outplayed his elder body, and kept his position, knowing how the Watchtower's waffle policy of handling wicked men, gave this elder "watchtower theology precedent". Victims are treated as "wrong doers" by lying P.R. spokesman for sympathizers of pedophiles, pedophiles attend field service frequently, they are considered "good brothers" victims are so screwed up, they are considered "weak", "Faders" because of the damage wicked men have inflicted on them!
If you can silence your sheep from cryings, your Kingdom Halls will appear to be bless by Jehovah God! Pedophiles can say "Look I am out in Field Service thirty hours a month!" "My accuser does not preach door-to-door like me, they don't give parts, I must be forgiven and Jehovah has rejected my victims!" It's very sick and I hate talking about this horrible subject, that is swept under the carpet!

No. My children were abused. The abuser has gone to prison.
So the Elders 'worked hard to keep the JW name out of the press' did they. I have often wondered what is their influence?
