Isn't it ironic that the Governing Body saw fit to produce a child's video warning about the dangers of plastic toys while trying to cover up the danger of sexual predators in their Kingdom Halls?

Even the theme to listen, obey and be blessed only reinforces the kind of culture that allows the abuse of children to go unnoticed for years.

The callous disregard for children is mind boggling.

I suspect that the Governing Body knew that there could be some expensive settlements coming up and rushed the production of the ill advised Sparlock video to try to squeeze a few more donations out of the rank and file while they still have a chance. They probably didn't take time to consider that it would only add to their troubles and expose their hypocrisy.

That book has been highly criticized by some parents and was the reason why they left the borg. If I remember correctly, the wording put the responsibility for the molestation on the child. It was something about Satan and the demons tempting children to allow their private parts to be played with or some such nonsense.

I don't even see why they needed to print anything about that in a book supposedly written for children. One would think JW parents would be open and frank with a child from a young age about what is appropriate touch and what is not. What is private on their bodies and what is not. I know I'm very on top of that kind of thing with young ones. A friend of mine's daughter (4 years old) was sitting in the living room playing with her toys but was in her nightgown and undies and just spread-eagled on the floor...there were quite a few adult men around, and not that they're going to look and drool over her, but I told her "Pull your nightie down, sweetie...Don't show anyone your undies...That's A___'s private area...Only mommy and daddy and the doctor can see that okay?". Her mom quickly jumped in and explained a little further. But she got the point and made sure she kept covered. It's really pretty simple to explain it without making the child feel ashamed of themselves or their parts. So I don't see why in the heck the WTBTS needed to put that into a book about learning from Jesus. It's easy to explain, no Jesus needed...and no introducing irrational fears about Satan and the demons.

I hope they get zero donations for the video. The video is nothing more than a way to guilt parents into ruining children's lives even worse than they already are. Pious-sneer instead of having fun. No vacations. And now no toys that could have an element of "magic"! What next, no childhood because that also has an element of magic?
