Inspired by the April, 2002 issue of Unte Reader about socially cool ideas to help fix the world and spark your own creativity, I began to think that there are a lot of creative people on this board that might have suggestions of how to make a new ex-dub’s life more enjoyable and their recovery more positive.
Yes, of course there is therapy and reading C of C and these are something that many will benefit from but can we be more creative than this? Here are a few ideas I adapted from the article that might have some appeal to someone coming out.
1. Plant a tree to mark your exodus from the Borg. This can be a healing symbol to a individual to become life positive instead of following a life negative course. It also allows a person a visible measure of their progress from their rebirth into the real world and it gives some action to them in their moment of grief in leaving.
2. Become the congregation Jester. The theory behind being a congregation Jester is that they can question WTS policies and elderism without fear of repercussions, serving as the mouthpiece for unorthodox criticism, couched as harmless jest.
3. Never tell your spouse you are leaving the Borg until you go camping together. If you have ever had the experience of going camping with someone for a week, you know darn well that it uncovers most matrimonial problems and gives you a captive audience to get it all out there to your spouse without interruptions from the outside world, especially from other dubs. I was thinking that if you were going to try to convince your spouse of your reasoning, this would be the ideal opportunity to follow through.
4. Establish Instant Messaging Emergency Wards. When you make a new friend online here, why not give them your IM handle or phone number to drop in sometime when they are feeling lonely or fearful and need human support from people who have survived the Borganization?
Your thoughts and suggestions?
