Can I Sue? Any Advice?

I was woundering what my chances are of suing either the Elders or WT over this:
I was DF'd in another congregation not the one I went today for public meeting and WT study(what a joke those 2 meetings were).

Anyway I sat directly in the front right in front of the speaker. The reader of the WT was on my appeal committee(another joke).
As I was leaving after the final prayer the sister in back of me introduced her self and I started to talk to her after she aproached me first, right away the elder who was on the appeal committee stops the sister from talking to me by interupting our conversation and annouced to her in front of me that it was not proper for her to talk to me since I was disfellowshipped.
I then proceeded to leave out the back when as I'm leaving another brother holds out the right hand of fellowship and we proceed to share greetings at which time a different elder rudely interupts our conversation and tells the brother not to talk to me because I was DF'd.

I think these elders may have violated my rights since I have never been a member of that congregtion and they by their words caused other to veiw me as evil with out proper cause.

Any legal eagles can tell my options?

    Score: Lions 2, Christians 0

Chances of success in civil court= ZERO.

You willingly accepted membership in a private organization with plenty of foreknowledge of the treatment of those "excommunicated". Now that you are of the "marked" you are getting what you indorse by your membership.

You made your bed, sleep in it or get a new bed!

carmel who thinks blaming the borg for ones membership in it is pathetic

I'm thinking you're outta luck on this one. We all knew the rules going in.

    Dave,

I'm just curious. Why are you going to JW meetings?

Give it a rest and move on. I don't understand all these posts about people wanting to sue the congregation or the elders. Maybe the wounds are still too fresh in your mind but what exactly do you want to achieve?

    Mike,

The reason I went is because I had just past out a bunch of these hand bills:

Jehovah’s Witnesses keep coming to your door because they don’t want you to be destroyed at ARMAGEDON.
All members believe they belong to the only TRUE RELIGION and every religion except theirs is from the DEVIL, and that God will destroy you for not being a Jehovah’s Witness at ARMAGEDON.

You must serve the Watchtower and let the Watchtower control your life or die eternally that is what the Jehovah’s Witness believe.

And want to show my face and see what kind of treatment I would get because I might get brave enough to get a reporter to go with me to the meetings one day. Kinda want to get a good show on JW's shunning policy.

You may have certain legal rights regarding the way the "disfellowshipping" was enforced. I don't know if anyone has challenged such actions as you experienced. Disfellowshipping is one thing, enforcement is another.

    Siddhashunyata,

    I think this is true:

You may have certain legal rights regarding the way the "disfellowshipping" was enforced. I don't know if anyone has challenged such actions as you experienced. Disfellowshipping is one thing, enforcement is another.
I don't know what my rights are, but I think the elders may have made a serious blunder.
I know that when I was an elder serveral years ago the Societiy sent us a letter that said never to announce a DF'n in another congregation, other than the one to which the person belongs.
I'm sure their reasons were to protect against any valid legal action.
