Now, why would the Society be afraid of people doing surveys
of Witnesses? They've told elders and publishers not to cooperate
    with such - why?

Haven't they told us that "Witnesses are the happiest people
on earth"? Didn't they say the organization is a "spiritual
paradise"? Don't they promise that Jehovah provides materially
and gives his blessing to faithful Witnesses?

What are they afraid of? Wouldn't results of such surveys
give a powerful witness to the 'truth'?

    Or.....

are they afraid that surveys will expose widespread mental illness
and depression existing amoung Witnesses? That Witnesses are
poorly educated? That child molestation is common and that Witness
    families are falling apart?

    Their refusal speaks volumes

metatron, of course the society won't let their members participate in some survey!

After the Dateline story airs, the las thing they will want is more negative publicity.

    Meta,

That WTBTS warning is entirely in character. Where did they publish it? Or is it being disseminated verbally?

Nothing gets in the way of the "truth" more than those pesky "facts".

They know damn well that an objective analysis of their membership would reveal a morass of social problems, typical of a bizaar fringe group.

It was stated in a letter to elders in the U.S.
and repeated , to all publishers, in the KM.
