You think Jesus is trying to out do the Old Testament.
2 Kings 4:42-44 Elisha feeds 100 men, and bread
was left over. Jesus feeds 1000,s and bread was left
over. Elisha had 20 loaves of bread (100 men), Jesus
5 loaves.
Of course there are many examples in the gospels of Jesus
repeating A miracle from the Old Testament, but doing so
in A larger and grander style.
So was Jesus pointing to Christianty surpassing Judaism.
I am sure it was confusing to the Jews. No doubt they where
aware of Elisha miracle, so now you have Jesus going one
up on Elisha. It must have been A rough time for Jews.
All they believed in, forget it..
