  Does anyone know if there is a sound recorder for Windows that converts to MP3 as it records?

  Yeah, it's called Total Recorder; records anything thru your sound card into MP3 (you have to install MP3 codec afterward they show you where and how) into many different formats, actually.

  free trial, then 12 bucks I think. One of the RARE pieces of software I actually laid out money for and was glad I did.

  When you get to the site, version 3.3 is highlited.
