The JW pedophile database would be an amazing thing to have, but to obtain it illegally would prevent it ever from being used as evidence and would hurt the case of many abuse survivors.

So long as the goverment does not come up with list illegally it is ok for them to use it. They cant encourage anyone to do anything illegal either. But once it is out there, they can use it as they please.

On another thread somebody supposedly from Anonymous was quoted as accusing Bill Bowen of being in cahoots with the Watchtower, so not surprising if he is not their biggest cheerleader!

The high likelihood that it would be near impossible to obtain requested data is no excuse for obtaining it illegally - unless you run the Mission Impossible franchise.

From the legal view, obtaining the database by other than lawful means opens the act to charges of corruption - as when police fail to get judicial orders to conduct a search warrant and in conducting the search "find" evidence against the accused. It cannot subsequently be admitted into evidence in a court of law because of questions about its authenticity (e.g., was it purposely planted there by the police? etc).

Similarly, any kind of illegal maneouvering to obtain the pedophile database, will give the Watchtower an all-too-convenient out with counter-allegations that the database was subsequently altered and corrupted since it was illegally seized.
