Just bumped into this...

  This is a phrase taken from the current WT magazine being studied. Someone already took it and ran with it, posting it as a banner in a pro-JW site called "I am proudly a JW". It's in Spanish, but you can look it up in the english version of the mag. WT Study edition, Feb 2015 under "Imitate Jesus' humility and tenderness", Par 9.

  Disgusting...

  The Spanish version was translated differently. In my opinion as a native Spanish speaker, and if translated from Spanish to English, it would have sound like "Listen, you little speck of dust. Who do you think you are?". Also, the previous phrases leading to that statement, in Spanish again, go more like thins... "Whenever I felt I deserved a better job, I would take myself to a corner.."

  Here's how the English version of paragraph 9 reads:

  Consider W. J. Thorn, who served as a pilgrim, or traveling overseer, starting in 1894. After many years in that work, he was called to Kingdom Farm in upstate New York and worked in the henhouse. He said: “Whenever I get to thinking a great deal of myself, I take myself into the corner, so to speak, and say: ‘You little speck of dust. What have you got to be proud of?’” (Read Isaiah 40:12-15.) A humble attitude indeed!

  Thanks Cap. The spanish version makes it clear that he would think about "his job". Comments from the brothers last Sunday were surrounding that idea. "How would you feel if you were "demoted" from traveling overseer to chicken overseer"

  I read that during the meeting and exploded in anger. Fortunately, I wasn't visibly troubled.

  If this is not evidence of ABUSIVE, CONTROLLING, MANIPULATIVE, SMOTHERING, SOUL DESTROYING, SELF ESTEEM DESTROYING conduct, then I don't know what is!
