That doesn't sound right; "Jehovah's Witnesses compound". Besides, Witnesses don't waste time volunteering for projects when they should be out in field service. Especially sports related projects.

I imagine it's true. Right before they let more people go from the compound in Walkill, they can try to look like a normal religious group to the locals. They don't pay taxes, so it isn't about that. It's business though. It may be that they want to rezone some land and sell it or they want to rezone and do something else on the land or maybe get some kind of waiver on something they are doing. Heck, it could just be to show the local politicians that JW members are like puppets that will dance when their strings are pulled. That way, they can all get a good laugh in some smoke-filled room when they talk about it. NO? It's gotta be business-related, then.
I see that Shawangunk is near Wallkill, so that explains the "Jehovah's Witnesses compound" comment. My guess is that this is some kind our public relations stunt.
