JWs & Billy Graham cut from the same cloth?

This past week there was a *bombshell* dropped about the Reverend Billy Graham. There were some audio tapes unclassified of conversations between Billy Graham and President Nixon.

Anyhow, the tapes revealed how Billy Graham really felt about the Jews--proclaiming even then that "we'd better get the media out from under their control before it gets too late" and other Anti-Semitic remarks.

When questioned about it, Graham simply stated that *he had no recollection of those conversations.* [8>]

HOWEVER he apologized for his anti-Semitic remarks and the harm it may have caused.

Now, what about Jehovah's Earthly Organization???? When have the JWs *ever* publicly admitted that they made poor decisions that affected peoples lives????

NEVER, which is why they will get the same judgement they claim Jehovah will mete out to false religion.

That was an interesting bit of news. I remember when, as a JW, we remarked about how certain religionists like Billy Graham would sidle up to the religious leaders, and that that proved they were part of old Babylon.

Even now, I still think that to maintain their influence in the world, those like Billy Graham may try to 'echo' the thoughts of the world leaders they're hobnobbing with.

So Billy Graham may not have even meant what he said, he merely may have been agreeing with President Nixon. Speculation.

He does himself a disservice by qualifying his apology, by saying "he doesn't remember saying that" when it's right there on tape. No use even beginning to deny it.

But that having been said, you're right, at least he apologized for any hurt feelings that this revelation may have caused.

The next time you hear the WT Society officially apologize for any hurt it has caused will be the first. Proud men, ready for a big time comeuppance!

Here's the link for the article. Gopher, I can't agree with what you said about echoing Nixon's remarks because, quite frankly, he was the one who volunteered that "they may be able to do something about it" if Nixon was re-elected.

PS, that was a friendly disagreement, LOL!

    Funny how he:

he apologized for his anti-Semitic remarks and the harm it may have caused.
    yet..

When questioned about it, Graham simply stated that *he had no recollection of those conversations
Now correct me if I am wrong, but how do you apologize for something you dont remember doing? (smirk)

    They can't and never will.

Jw's are in a bad spot. If they admit to being wrong or at least not having good judgement on certain issue's, it can be looked upon as them not having the "truth".

It kills me! I tell you it really does. I am not Df'd or Da'd but yet I'm treated as such. I just bumped into an elder from my old hall and he looked at me then pretended that there was something flying overhead and kept walking.

This was the same elder who LIED when I was being interrogated by the C.O. He knows he was wrong, dead wrong and he knows that he LIED. To make it worse, I went to H.S. with this guy, but yet he can't admit that he was wrong and at least have the decency
    to ask how I'm doing.

Nope, Jw's won't admit to being wrong. They'll admit that they were overzealous or excited but not to being wrong.
    Just like the stinkin' Pharisees....incredible.
