Just FYI, caught these two movies over the past couple weekends.
1) Queen of the Damned - ROCKS if you like vampire movies. Soundtrack makes it worth the while on its own - singers from Disturbed, Static-X, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Marilyn Manson, the Deftones, Godhead, etc. all appear on the soundtrack. NOTE: if you hate this kind of music, this movie is a miss - it permeates the movie - indeed the point of the movie is the lead vampire becoming a rock star.
Plot is typical vampire movie fare, nothing special there. Costumes, set design, writing and acting were all significantly above average, though. Very cool flick. Note it's rated R, so it's not for kids (although, honestly, it isn't any worse than a rough Buffy episode - little ?no? swearing, no nudity, and vampire-type violence)
2) Resident Evil - very good, too. MUCH better than the survival-horror genre has been spitting out lately. This movie harkens back to 'Aliens' (the second one - you know, the GOOD one!). A little bit of intrigue, impossible odds, government coverups, light on romance....oh, yeah, and zombies. LOTS of zombies. (z0mbeez = teh r0x0rs) DEFINATELY not a kid flick. Kind of bloody, with some moderate swearing. Again, no nudity/sex, though.
