Why are they called "good" byes anyway?

Surely it is only good if you don't like the person who you will no longer with?

Are there ever any "bad" byes?

If you really want the etymology, "Good bye" comes from an old English phrase "God be with you". "God be" transformed into "Good bye" over the centuries.

Can atheist really mean good bye?

That's why I always say "Cheerz" or "Toodeloo" or "bye-bye" or "Later" or "OUT" or "THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER" or "Seeyah" or "ciao!"
