Do a System Restore - to a day or two before you installed it!!!

Download and run Malwarebytes

I'd also suggest downloading Avast! antivirus and running a boot scan, then install and run Malwarebytes. That's how I destroyed the trojan that took over my AVG about six months ago. I don't think Malwarebytes does the check of your Windows OS,,,

Everybody gets offered free programs to download off the net- but just because you can, doesn't mean you necessarily should. You could visit the website of a reputable computer magazine, and see what they recommend. If you want to get a lot of work done on your PC it is probably better to keep it simple- running only the programs you really need. But yeah- what The Searcher wrote- System Restore is probably the best way to remove the crap homepage, or Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel- if it is listed there...
