Kind of hard to convince JWs who are now adults to steer their children toward being a fultime pioneer or eldership.
They have Serena Williams, and Prince and many other celebrities as examples. A teen questioning why its acceptable for them to do what they love and have a talent for, but it is not for the teen will cause major issues. They see JWs in the congregation who went to college and are well off (even for these times) while they watch their parents, with no "higher education" struggle to pay bills and put food on the table ---- all while giving what they can to the money boxes at the Kingdom Hall.
The GB/WTBTS is out of touch. Topics like this would be left alone if they were smart. They keep shooting themselves in the foot. Love the stereotypes too. Opposing father - beard, works hard and often for the family....worldly friend - hat on backwards and baggy clothes...coach - an uncompromising a-hole. JWs get weird when you miss a meeting, but you're expected to shake off any responsibility outside of the organization without a care. Only the GB is worthy of your "commitment", Let your YES MEAN YES - unless the person you said YES to is Not a JW, then you can go back on your word...and if they bitch about it...call it persecution and feel proud.
