This sort of crap gets right up my nose. It's shocking how easily the Society can get articles like this inserted in the local newspapers on a whim. Nobody at the newspaper stops to think - "Hang on, what are they actually teaching at these gatherings? Do the benefits to the local economy really outweigh the negative impact this cult is having on people's lives?"
And then they moan about this being "satan's media". Morons.

I'm sure Reading does love the money. Plus, the people attending have been instructed to be on their best behavior. When attending there about 6 years ago, we (the JW's) were advised we could not use the parking garages on Friday. We had to find parking on the street. Sovereign Center is in a run down barrio neighborhood. We had to park between 3/4 - 1 mile away and hoof it carrying toddlers, bookbags, lunch, cushions, sweaters and various other misc. We were afraid our car would be stolen by the time we got back in the evening. We had to pass by lots of young people hanging around and looking scary. Nary a word of English could be heard spoken by the locals. Our car was intact, however, my feet were not, after walking in heels on the concrete sidewalks all that distance, packed down like a mule.

Anyone who is familiar with Reading would agree it's quite a dump.
